PM Discovery Room Hours (Tues)

Our Schoolyear Discovery Room Open Hours are generally Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 10 am to noon and from 4 to 6 pm.

We occasionally have to keep the rooms closed due to program conflicts and/or staffing issues. We will make every effort to update the calendar to reflect these temporary closures.

Please come visit our Discovery Rooms to see our Ambassador Animals, read a book, touch and examine some of our natural history specimens, pick up a scavenger hunt, check out a backpack, and more!

Halloween Night Hike

Friday, October 25 at 8pm   

Bring your flashlights and your curiosity about life in the dark for this not so spooky Halloween Night Hike! Learn about the animals that are out in Russ Pitman Park once the sun goes down on this family-friendly guided walk.

Age Restrictions: This night “hike” is perfect for adults and families with children ages 4 and up. Every attendee must register and pay for a spot. This is not a drop off program. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult attendee.

Cost: members $10/person; non-members $12/person  (Note: You must be Family Level or higher NDC members to receive the member discount.)

Registration: Advance registration is required.

Note:  Please do not leave valuables in your car. The Center is not responsible for any unattended items left in vehicles in our parking lot.

Fall Nature Hike

Join Head Naturalist Eric Duran at the front door for an exploration of fall nature out in the park. As you walk, you’ll look for, identify, and appreciate the diversity of butterflies, dragonflies, migrating birds, and beautiful wildflowers you can find in the Houston area in the fall.

Date & Time: Select Saturdays at 2:00 pm

  • Saturday, October 12 at 2pm

Program Location: Meet in front of the Center

Age Restrictions: This is a family program for kids 4 and up with their parents or adult caregivers.

Cost: members $5/person; non-members $10/person  (Note: You must be Family Level or higher NDC members to receive the member discount.)

Registration: Advance registration is required. This is not a drop off program. All children must be registered and accompanied by a registered adult.

Member Appreciation Night

NDC Member Appreciation Splash Night

NDC Members you are invited to enjoy an evening of sprinkler-splashing fun on the NDC front lawn. We will have sprinklers, wading pools, water blasters, and a 20-foot-long slip-and-slide.

We will have snacks and refreshments available for kids and adults, as well as an animal encounter.

These are available for your family as a part of your NDC Membership benefits, so don’t miss this opportunity to play outdoors while staying cool.
