Family Night Hike: Moth Night

Family Night Hike: Moth Night

Friday, October 17 from 8:00 – 9:30 pm   

Join us for fun family outing in the park… at night. We will explore the park and seek out all kinds of nocturnal animals. For the first time at the nature center, you and your family will help us conduct some real science. We will set up a moth trap (a white sheet with a light), count, photograph, and survey as many moths (and other nocturnal insects) as we can! This citizen science project should be lots of fun!

Age Restrictions: These night “hikes” are perfect for adults and families with children ages 4 and up. Every attendee must register and pay for a spot. This is not a drop off program. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult attendee.

Cost: members $10/person; non-members $12/person  (Note: You must be Family Level or higher NDC members to receive the member discount.)

Naturally Messy (Fall)

This new program highlights nature’s mess makers with classroom lessons about the biology and behavior of animals (and sometimes plants) that are known to make messes. These messes found in nature will serve as inspiration for the messes we make together outside at the pavilions after our lesson.

Program Location: Inside the NDC classroom AND Outside under the NDC Pavilions and out in our nature park

Age Restrictions: 3 to 7 years old with an adult caregiver

Advance registration: Required.

Program Size Limit: 15 kids

Bring: refillable water bottle (if anything more is needed, we will email the week before class)

Wear: play clothes that can get dirty/stained
