Meet the Animals

The Nature Discovery Center is home to a variety of critters that you can get to know in our Discovery Rooms and in the enclosures of our outdoor Critter Classroom. The Center also offers occasional Meet the Animal programs with our Naturalists on weekends. Stop by for a visit and learn about our animal residents!

What: Nature Discovery Center Naturalists offer weekend Meet the Animals sessions aimed to give you a more in depth introduction to our animals. Come learn about their behavior and ecology as well as the characteristics that make them unique in an interactive program with both live animals and natural history specimens.

Days, Dates, Times & Topics:  

  • Saturday, September 4 at 2:00 pm – Reptiles   REGISTER
  • Saturday, November 13 at 2:00 pm – Insects and Spiders   REGISTER
  • Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 pm – Fuzzy Friends  REGISTER
  • Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 pm – Scaly & Slimy  REGISTER
  • Saturday, May 14 at 2:00 pm – Creepy Crawlies  REGISTER

Location: Meet behind the Center at the Pavilions.

Ages: This program is intended for families. This is not a drop off program. All children must be registered and must be accompanied by registered adults. 

Cost: $5 / person

Attendance Limit: 20 people to allow for social distancing. Please bring and wear your masks as social distancing may not always be possible on the trails.

Advance registration is required. EVERY ATTENDEE MUST BE PAID FOR, NOT JUST CHILDREN.
