Join us on Saturday, April 26 from 10 am to 3 pm for a fun and informative, FREE, family-friendly event. There will be nature and environmental activities crafts and exhibits for children, family nature hikes, live animals, and more.
Bring the whole family out to celebrate spring with us in Russ Pitman Park, our gorgeous nature park! Whether you personally want to browse the Native Plant Sale for pollinator friendly plants for your yard, listen to live music from the North Harris County Dulcimer Society on the front porch, watch your kids enjoy nature-based crafts and activities, take a guided walk in the park, or have a hands-on animal encounter, there will be plenty for everyone in your family to enjoy! Be sure to stop by Mily’s on the Road Taqueria for some delicious food to picnic on in the park and Elizabeth’s Lemonade Day Houston stand for a refreshing drink!
Other partner organizations that will be in attendance include: The Houston Bat Team, City of Bellaire, Texas, Environmental and Sustainability Board with the City of Bellaire, Plant It Forward, Galveston Bay Foundation, Native Plant Society of Texas, Texas Master Naturalist – Gulf Coast Chapter, Ellie Mental Health.
Activities and exhibitors will be located throughout Russ Pitman Park. Parking will be on side streets and in the lots off of Evergreen Street. The north parking lot by the nature center building will be open only to staff and exhibitors.
We are super excited to expand this event this year with the Nature Discovery Center’s first annual Native Plant Sale! Look for natives like Bluebonnets, Scarlet Sage, Black-Eyed Susan and more starting at just $5 per pot.
