Can’t easily take your group on the road? Have the NDC come to you!

The Nature Discovery Center offers outreach programs that allow seniors to learn about nature without having to travel.

Audience Size: These programs are suitable for audiences of about 30 adults in a large gathering room setting. If you have more than 30 adults, we can offer back-to-back same day programs to accommodate more people at an added cost (see below). Note that all same-day programs must be the same topic. 

Duration: Programs last about 45 minutes depending on group size and participation.

Outreach Program Topics

Creepy Crawlies: Insects & Other Invertebrates
Everyone is curious about animals with more than 4 legs that creep and crawl. Your audience will enjoy an interactive program that highlights the biology and behavior of insects and other invertebrates with guest stars including Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches, a tarantula, and a vinegarroon.

Mammals: Warm & Fuzzy
This program covers the basic biology of mammals and takes a look at different species of mammals from Texas and around the World. We’ll bring live mammals for you to meet, along with furs and animal mounts!

Reptiles: Scales & Tails
This program all about reptiles includes snake skins and sheds, turtle shells, an alligator skull, and live reptiles that program participants can safely touch like snakes, lizards, and turtles.

Vertebrates: Back to the Bone
What do birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, and mammals have in common? They all have backbones! Learn more about the characteristics of different vertebrate groups with up close interactions with various specimens and live animals.

Texas Animals
Discover the wide and varied wildlife of the great state of Texas. From armadillos to monarchs, and longhorns to mockingbirds, we’ll learn what makes Texas’ wildlife so special. This engaging program will involve specimens and live animals.

Cost: $125 to $300 depending on the location of the Outreach and number of requested programs.

  • $200 – Location is 21 – 30 miles away
  • $250 – Location is 31 – 40 miles away
  • $300 – Location is 41 – 50 miles away

If your facility has more than 30 anticipated participants, you can book back-to-back same day and same topic Outreach Programs at an added cost of $75 per added program.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

Written notice is required no later than 5 business days prior to the program start date to receive a 50% refund. Please send cancellation requests to mail@naturediscoverycenter.org and include CANCELLATION in the subject line of your email.
