Darenda Dorsey serves on the Culture and Arts Board for the City of Bellaire. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, and she is enthusiastic about her position as Development Director at Nature Discovery Center, believing in the essential role that nature plays in enhancing community well-being.
As a first-generation college student raised in the country, nature has always been a significant influence in her life. Darenda has experience as a Development Officer at BakerRipley, where she focused on individual giving, and has held positions at the Houston Area Women’s Center, Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, and the Houston Food Bank, all focused on community engagement, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
The Nature Discovery Center is particularly meaningful to her family; her husband was raised in Bellaire, and they treasure their memories of NDC, from strolls with their daughter to visits to the pumpkin patch. Having a place like the Nature Discovery Center in Bellaire brings immense joy to their family.
In her personal life, she enjoys discovering local restaurants, singing, collecting and spinning vinyl records, and has a strong passion for vintage fashion.
