Please review the volunteer opportunities and fill out the form below.

Greet visitors and help them find the activities and animals that are interesting and age appropriate. (Training provided)

  • Group Guides – Lead groups of up to 10 elementary aged students on simple field studies in the park and assist them during a brief visit to the Discovery Rooms. (Training provided)
  • Material Prep Helpers – Assist Educators on staff by preparing craft and other materials used in classes and camps and for Nature Story Time.

Help guide our seasonal birding walks in Russ Pitman Park and assist Staff Naturalists with birding field trips during Spring and Fall Migrations.
Work with the Park Steward to complete clearly defined projects in the park, including mulching trails, planting native plants, removing invasive species, and more. (Training provided)
Join Park Steward Mary Ann Beauchemin and a group of volunteers for a morning of gardening in the park and learn about gardening with natives while you help care for the park.
Join our group of weekly volunteers who help us with gardening and general handyman jobs around the park and house. Meet Wednesday mornings at 10am under the pavilions.

They focus on caring for the herb garden and the beds around the Henshaw House, and tackle other projects when they arise. Their loyalty to Russ Pitman Park and to the Nature Discovery Center is incredible and has endured for over 20 years!

Willing Wednesday Workers begin each work session with some yummy snacks and a chat over a cup of coffee or tea to discuss the plans for the morning.

Help field phone calls and take messages and greet visitors. You can set your own two or three hour shift, mornings or afternoons, year–round or seasonally. (Training provided)
Aide our Media Coordinator in getting the word out about our programs and community events. Whether you would enjoy drafting press releases or PSAs, posting calendar listings on 3rd party websites, distributing flyers in the community, or serving as a photographer, we would love your help!
Help children and their families enjoy fun and educational activities, games, and crafts during our Spring Fling, Pumpkin Patch, and Family Fun Evening.  2 – 3 hour shifts
Do you love to plan events; organize auctions; create centerpieces, invitations, or brochures; or round up volunteers? Then this is the place for you!
