Position Opening: Preschool Educator

The Nature Discovery Center is seeking to fill a crucial position on our staff: Pre-school Educator.

The Nature Discovery Center is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join their education team: someone who loves science, nature and young children. This new staff member will take over the current pre-school program of afternoon classes during the school year and morning and afternoon classes or mini-camps during the summer as a primary focus. A full curriculum is in place, and the new educator will be able use it and to build on it. A degree or experience in education, environment or related field is valuable. Spanish speaking skills are a plus. Schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 9 am to 5:30 pm.

We are seeking someone who:

  • is patient with children and other visitors.
  • has a college degree, preferably in biology, education or a related field.
  • works well both independently and as part of a team
  • is energetic, and enthusiastic,
  • can multi-task and tolerate interruptions with grace
  • is thorough and detailed oriented

    In addition to core responsibilities, this position includes participating as an elementary school field trip guide, Discovery Room docent, pitching in for community events and actively participating in staff meetings, brainstorming, “and other duties as they arise or are assigned”.
